![]() UberLancer is a community collaboration with the purpose of creating a brand new and exciting version of Microsoft's Freelancer. We have many lofty goals including creating new storylines and missions for single player, new voiceovers, modernization of graphics, and much much more. If you've been here before, you know all that. But there's something new this time: This time we plan to acquire the code to the game itself! If you love Freelancer and would like to see it continue to live on, please join us. It can't be a "new version" without your contribution. ![]() Now Hiring UberLancer Board of Directors The UberLancer Board of Directors has open seats. In order to speed the process up, any confirmed admin from an active game server or website is offered a seat on the Board. Forming our corporate structure and creating the bylaws are essential to the goals of the project. We cannot apply for a 501(c)(7) tax exemption until we incorporate. If you are interested in serving the community on the Board of Directors, please send a PM to Sledge. Read more about the Board here. Serious inquiries only, please. Your real contact info will be required if we successfully incorporate.
The title doesn't give much away but what i'm suggesting is ability for human players to put items up on some sort of marketplace at certain bases (sort of like a black market), this would make selling stuff to player not requiring you advertising it either through chat of buy the servers forum. Another thing i would like to see added to the markets in the game is the randomization of the items available, the stock of such an item could also effect the price, but only marginally. This could be achieved through a similar system to what Oblivion uses, where the items are pulled out of a set list, at certain times. Also players buying items should deplete stock of items, although such a system also exists in freelancer through an .exe hack the stock is replenished straight after you undock from the base.
This would add a bit more diversity in the marketplaces in the game. Ozed. ![]() Rep based trading would definitely add another layer of gameplay to uberlancer. A base on neutral might sell you a diamond for 1400, whereas that same base on full green would sell it to you for 800. A base on the red side may even refuse to trade with you outright. (This would also stack with current economical conditions, making a dynamic economy less spammy.)
This would also apply to fuel prices. ![]() Would it be possible to make short campaigns for a few prominent factions? (possibly just one mission epic battles for factions, and an epic smuggling route for pirates)
some ideas: Kusari stealth patrol into Rhineland? (in drakes sneaking thru meteor and mine fields past battleships?) Red Hessian survival (lost on patrol, survive corsair and edgeworld space until you get home.) Outcast smuggling run (Control or protect a dromedary??) Bundshuh rebellion (capture a system from Rhineland, then protect it from hessians and corsairs) Rhineland battle campain (Fight liberty, bretonia and the corsairs in epic open battles) ![]() ![]() This forum will be known as The Sirius Times, our very own newspaper. There will also be an accompanying newsletter that will be sent each month to those who sign up for it. The idea is to check Freelancer sites and communities and report (in proper journalistic fashion) and events and other interesting happenings. Perhaps even the occasional in-game story may make it into these pages. If you have a story you'd like to submit, until we have a permanent editor, send it to Sledge. Not all stories will be posted and UberLancer has the responsibility to edit submissions for grammer, spelling, etc. ![]() A dynamic economy (With fluctuating market values) Would make trade far more interesting, as well a diversifying trade routes.
Also, passengers (as broached upon in the discovery mod) are a very good idea. Perhaps if you could talk to them in bars, and they could tell you where they want to go, and pay according to distance and reputation? Also, the game would have to be modified to widescreen (1680 x 1050) Not a hard modification, but a necessary one. ![]() ![]() Sledge:
Quote Sigh. I have a lot of work to do. So what can we all do to help out, after all the more hand on a job, the lighter the work . So what can we all do, i'm personally willing to help in whatever way you see fit .Ozed. ![]() Just throwing it out their that we should join the Freelancer Community Network, for those of you who don't know what that is, its a bar that stays on the top of the site and provides links to quite a few freelancer related, go to the-starport.net and see what it is.
Any way heres the link to the application forum http://the-starport.net/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?topic_id=1187&start=0 Might give us some extra exposure Ozed. ![]() Accurate information delivered in the most effective way is a critical aspect of any organization. With that in mind, the UberLancer Spokesman (a member of the CFO's staff) is the only official authorized to release press statements. Those statements will appear in this forum only.
The spokesman will coordinate distribution of the release and will be allowed to appoint a staff to assist. The spokesman will also maintain a "distribution list" of sites and locations that release is to be delivered. The spokesman will also be authorized to restrict certain sites from receiving "official" communications (IE, not from UberLancer. If they do get the info it's from a 3rd party). The forum is designated "reply only". The only new topics in this forum are posts by the designated spokesman. Replies are allowed however they should be restricted to links showing where the release was distributed, posted by the spokesman's staff. ![]() Chief Financial Officer: Open UberLancer Spokesman: Sledge (temporary designation, until a CFO is appointed) ![]() Yet another idea (i have a few but just cant remember them), this one i remember from the game I-War, in it, it had an energy management system so you could manage how much energy was going into the three main systems in your ship (Engine, Shields and Weapons) so you could add a tone of extra energy to your weapons with the consequence of a lower strength shield and slower to respond engines (made the whole ship feel twice as heavy). You could differentiate between the three system or have a variable combination, this could act as a dominant feature of just something where a player finds what he/she is most comfortable with and run with that.
Thats yet another idea from Ozed. ![]() One of the biggest fixes that i would like to see (i have a few mine you) is the sizes of the systems, as a few of you know that when you start making big systems freelancer starts to show its limits and a strange shaking/vibration occurs, this gets worse and worse as the system gets bigger. So, in a bid to make the game a bit more realistic (in terms of size) i think we should have system sizes more equivalent to that of the real world eg. a 1392000Km wide sun (equal to our own). although freelancer at present can handle such sizes we get that annoying shaking which with a system big enough to fit this size sun is absolutely terrible. Ozed. ![]() |
