Is there a way to group clouds? The smallest reasonable combination is ~10 clouds, and when you turn them, or something, it's just one *beep* of a measure. Good advice needed.

There's a New Sheriff in Town.

It pleases the admin team to announce the formation of the Official 24/7 Dev Server UberGuard. The mission of the UberGuard is to serve and protect the citizens of the UberVerse. Their primary responsibilities are to enforce server rules, promote proper server etiquette, and to assist players with any questions or problems while on the server.

The official tag for the UberGuard will be [UG]. This tag is restricted to UberGuard only so anyone flying this tag will be an official representative of the server. The inaugural UG team will be: Jordan Warren. If anyone else would like to be considered for a UG position, please pm me (do not post here).

I would like to announce the inauguration of the UberLancer Dev Server. The development server is now open 24 hours and is open to the public. If you'd like to be a witness to the live development of this ambitious add-on to Freelancer, please feel free to log in anytime.

We're currently running vanilla and until we've got DynEcon installed and configured, we'll be releasing the mod updates in the form of flmm files. Once we've got the auto-updater set up, manually downloading and installing updates will be a thing of the past. Each time you start the program the latest additions will be automatically installed and you'll be launched into the game.

The server is listed on the global list as ** UberLancer Dev Server ** and there is no password. The IP is: 72.188.159.28. Please download the FL list server tool from our downloads section...

Calling all Freelancer websites. In our continuous efforts to bridge the gap between the Freelancer communities and to give all servers and sites a voice in this project, we invite all other Freelancer related sites to send us a member to represent them. These special members will be considered good will ambassadors representing their home sites and will be allowed to use a special custom rank image designed by their home team (no larger than 115x30px). The ambassadors will be our liaison between UberLancer and their sites, will communicate any concerns or sentiments, and will have access to certain mod areas that are restricted to the public. Another responsibility of the ambassadors will be to keep their home communities updated on the progress of the project.

There has been some question about what exactly we are doing here at UberLancer.com. I want to take a minute to clarify our intentions and give everyone an idea of what to expect.

The UberLancer project was created to bring the Freelancer community together, forgetting about the rifts of the past, to collaborate and create a new version of Freelancer in the form of an unofficial add-on to the original version of the game. UberLancer will be the sequel to Freelancer, regardless of the opinion of some. It has been said on other sites that we can't call our mod a sequel. Well, we can, and we are. We now have enough input and support from the community at large to do that, and we continue to invite everyone in the Freelancer community to join us in the development of this project.

I'd like to invite everyone to check out our new and improved UberChat. We've ditched the old EveryWhere(but here)Chat and installed a fancy new Ajax chat script. It is bridged with SMF so you will no longer need to log in separately. Your user name will carry over with you automatically. Click the link in the menu to the left and check it out!

It's fully functional now, but there'll be some cosmetic changes coming up. Things like a shiny logo, colors to match the forum, etc.

Our development server is ready to start hosting the mod as we develop it real time. Our net connection has been improved to a 2mb up/15mb down so loading shouldn't be too much of an issue. Our plan is to install Zyos' stripped bare mod and use DynEcon and it's autoupdater to construct the mod live. To my knowledge, this hasn't been done before but it's essential to keep the community involved.

This is NOT a game server, although anyone is invited (encouraged!) to participate by logging in and playing the game as we develop it. The story will be kept under wraps, and in fact the single player game will release after the mod is developed. There will be times when the server is locked to the general public as the teams try out *secret* concepts.

Once the server kicks off, there will be a dev forum for the community to post feedback in. We're...
